Did you know that Little Wing Film Festival is organised by a small team of volunteers?
Since our founding in 2017, Little Wing has been run by dedicated volunteers to make a real, positive difference to accessible opportunities the film industry. By working towards structural change at a grassroots level, we want to see an industry that’s inclusive, sustainable and fair - and films and filmmakers that reflect the diversity and dynamism of our communities.
Thanks to a passionate community backing us, we’ve grown from strength to strength over the six years we’ve been building Little Wing - and this year we want to deepen those community links even further by expanding our team.
We’re looking for both core and seasonal volunteers, so if anything below resonates with you or you have any questions, drop our Director Mariah a line at email@example.com.
We’re looking for a handful of core volunteers who are excited to cut their teeth in the industry and grow with our festival. If you’ve got experience in PR, journalism, social media, business development, programming, sponsorships, or anything else you’d like to develop while working for a fairer film culture, or contribute as a seasoned expert, we’d love to hear from you.
Recruitment is mainly for new project leads, so if you’re excited to take the reins on a stream of work and help us reach new heights - not just in scale or aesthetic, but in the role we play in the UK’s film culture and the life cycle of emerging filmmakers - you could be a great fit for our team.
These roles are longer term and have slightly higher time-commitments, starting from 4 hours a week and varying during busier/quieter periods, so are good fits for people keen to make a longer-term impact and develop alongside the work we do.
If you want to try your hand in film festivals on a short-term basis, we’d love to talk to you about our seasonal volunteer positions. Whether it’s comms, logistics, event planning, videography, photography, writing, interviewing, or anything else you’d like to build your experience in or make a difference through, do let us know. Time commitment varies depending on role, and likely to be approximately 3 hours per day throughout the festival.
While we’ve been volunteer-run for years, this is our first big recruitment call-out because we want to shift Little Wing into a project run by a wide, passionate community. We’d love you to bring your experience, ideas, creativity, and drive for social change to our festival, and think that together we can make a real difference to the film industry and leave a cultural legacy we’re all proud of.
